gamification in education

Well here it goes.  Im kinda old school and believe it or not, i am not into video games which seems to me, widely accepted through my era. the idea is good, however i prefer to stuff my face in a text book or engage in a debate of some sort.  when i see the who complete quest for xp, all i can think of is how my kids are always on the computer, instead of doing their homework, playing some online game, in which they call a mmorpg. def not my cup of tea. but it is what it is, and apparently the world is leaving me in a cloud of dust. so i guess in order to get the grit out of my mouth i need to acquire a 1983 DeLorean and fin away to get ahead of the times in order to succeed.
